“What goes up must come down.” That was the conclusion made by Isaac Newton who coined this famous phrase. Newton didn’t get any more specific than that. He never mentioned this could happen during the changing of the guard, a long-held tourist-attracting tradition at Whitehall in London.

Whitehall is a road in the City of Westminster, Central London, which is the main roadway leading from Trafalgar Square towards Parliament Square. It is the epicenter of “Her Majesty’s Government.” Every day at 11 am (Sundays at 10 am), people gather to watch this ceremony rich in the archives of British history.

Governments are often somewhat predictable. Horses are not. This horse, either in protest of some government policy, dislike for the rider, or the sight of a mouse, got spooked. This, in turn, changed the normally dignified ceremony into a scary moment for everyone in attendance.

Luckily, no one was hurt.
