Shen Yun left a couple in Orange County, California in awe. The classical Chinese dance and music company was performing at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California.

“It is a classic of the ages,” said David Robert, a lawyer. “My experience was one of a lifetime. I would recommend it to anybody would listen.”

Robert was amazed at the skills of the performers, who were trained in classical Chinese dance.

“The precision, the hard work that went into it. Not just the bodies, the bodies are obviously trained since they were little children, but all the accoutrements, the handkerchiefs and the hats and the plates and the tableware. Everything was so precise. Even the dresses flowed in the same harmony. The precision was incredible. Whether you had 12 dancers or 15 dancers, or 16 dancers, everybody was right on the spot,” he said.

Robert attended the show with his girlfriend Maria Duong.

“They’re very precise in terms of their dancing movements, and they’re very artistic. I love the costumes. Very mesmerizing, I love everything,” said Duong, an accountant.

Both were fans of the soprano’s solo performance.

“Her voice is just like, wow, it’s like out of this world—it’s amazing. I’ve never watched a live performance soprano like that. I would recommend it to anyone,” said Duong.

“Absolutely phenomenal. She was great. She put her heart into it,” said Robert. “And the soloist who played the two-stringed piece (Chinese erhu) was also phenomenal.”

Robert also appreciated the message of the show.

“I definitely saw the good guy vs bad guy in every single number, and the work of the Lord, and the Lord still protects the good,” he said. “Really it’s a pleasure. I’ll tell all my friends and I’ll be back next year.”

Shen Yun will be performing next in San Luis Obispo, California.
