One police officer killed, another wounded in Paris shooting

One policeman was killed and another wounded in a shooting incident in central Paris on April 20.

The shooting happened on the famed Champs-Elysées boulevard. The shooter has been killed, a police source said.

The motive of the shooting has not been determined, though police said that the shooter may have targeted officers.

The shooting comes only days before the French election.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his condolences.

“First of all, our condolences from our country to the people of France. Again, it’s happening, it seems. I just saw it as I was walking in. So that’s a terrible thing. It’s a very very terrible thing that’s going on in the world today. But it looks like another terrorist attack. And what can you say? It just never ends. We have to be strong we have to be vigilant, and I’ve being saying it a long time,” he said.

Trump was in a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni when he made the remarks.

“First of all, allow me to join President Trump’s words for what happened in Paris. These words of condolences and the closeness to the French people, and this is a very delicate period for them. There’s just three days before the election,” said Gentiloni.
