Hong Kong celebrates eating buns at annual festival

Hong Kong has a festival dedicated to buns. The festival showcases small buns, big buns, and buns shaped like peaches. People even hold a contest to scale a wall of buns, to get the extra lucky bun at the top.

It’s a 7-day festival that takes place on Hong Kong’s Cheung Chau island. 50,000 people came out to celebrate buns. The festival coincides with Buddha’s birthday.

On the final day, people watch a “floating colors” parade. Children dress up as gods and goddesses, people play traditional music, and put on traditional lion dancing.
