Kid Rock for senate? Musician teases potential bid

Kid Rock, the “Bawitdaba” and “Cowboy” rapper, is apparently running for the U.S. Senate.

Rock, whose birth name is Robert James Ritchie, wrote on his website, KidRockForSenate.com, that there will be “a major announcement in the near future.” He looks to be running for the seat for Michigan.

“I have had a ton of emails and texts asking me if this website is real… http://kidrockforsenate.com The answer is an absolute YES,” he wrote on Twitter.

The website is selling T-shirts, trucker hats, and signs that read “Kid Rock for U.S. Senate.” It also features a picture of Rock wearing his trademark hat, dark glasses, while sitting next to a stuffed deer. It asks, “Are you scared?”

His tweet before the two regarding a potential  Senate announcement shows Rock, 46, wearing a red, white, and blue outfit while displaying two middle fingers to the camera. “You best bring an army if your dyin’ to try me,” he wrote.

The rapper-singer endorsed Donald Trump for president, later appearing in the Oval Office along with President Trump in April, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and guitarist Ted Nugent. He also performed at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. He first supported Republican candidate Ben Carson before switching to Trump.

“I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues,” Rock told The Guardian in 2015.

As The Hill noted, he’s been floated as a possible GOP challenger to Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
