A woman in Pune, India left nothing to chance when she sent her husband grocery shopping last weekend.
Era Golwalkar ensured that her husband Gaurav was armed with a detailed list, featuring illustrations of vegetables, annotations, and quantities to guide him through his shopping trip.
The list has gone viral on twitter, resonating with couples all over the world.
Era’s list specifies the exact colors for the tomatoes–a mix of red and yellow and the correct shape for the onions. She illustrates the Mirchi (green chilli) and notes to “ask for free.”
The IT specialist who has been married to Guarev for three years said that they decided to split the household chores.
“Gaurav was very supportive and was ready to learn cooking (which is not common for a lot of men in India). But there was one problem. I wasn’t aware of back then–he had no experience with anything related to cooking,” she told the BBC.
“When I first sent him to purchase vegetables, it was an epic fail and an argument ensued between us. The second time was no better. Nor was the third.”
Era said the list worked–her husband came home with the correct items and she decided to share the list online.
She even posted a follow-up with an “answer key” on Twitter, with further illustrations.
Some Twitter users seemed relieved that they were not the only one.
One user wrote “there are others like me.”
“Glad to find out that I am not the only husband who receives a shopping list for dummies,” wrote one man.
“My wife sends me to the store with a list n I STILL have to call her at least 5 times to make sure I get the right stuff,” admitted one user.
