President Trump Personally Calls Police Officer Injured in Motorcade Accident

President Donald Trump personally called an Indianapolis motorcycle police officer who was injured while escorting the presidential motorcade en route to Indianapolis International Airport.

Trump made the call to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer Robert Turner from Air Force One.

In the video, Trump’s side of the conversation can’t be heard, but the officer can be heard saying

“I understand. … Yes, sir. … [Laughs] Okay. … I believe so. … I’m not sure, I haven’t had the X-ray on it yet .. I appreciate it Sir. … Alright Sir. Okay. … Alright, thank you Sir … Okay, bye, thanks,” officer Turner said.

The White House said the officer suffered from a broken ankle and a possible concussion, but otherwise was in good condition.

After arriving at the airport, Trump spoke with a group of motorcycle officers on the tarmac expressing his concern for the injured officer.

The police department thanked Trump for his concern.

“On behalf of the IMPD, we would like to take an opportunity to thank President Donald J. Trump for his thoughtful act in delaying his departure in Air Force One until he was assured that the officer injured in the motorcade accident was ok,” the police department said in a Facebook post.

“Calls were made by his staff to Chief Bryan Roach checking on Cycle Officer Turner. President Trump even took the time to speak with Officer Turner after the accident, to check on him. Thank you for your compassion, concern, and leadership Mr. President!”

Trump was in Indiana to make a major announcement on his tax reform plan. In his speech at the Farm Bureau Building in Indianapolis Trump said, “If we want to renew our prosperity, restore our opportunity, and reestablish our economic dominance—which is what we should be doing—then we need tax reform that is pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-worker, pro-family, and, yes, pro-American.”

The video posted to Facebook by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received over 200 shares and over 500 reactions.

Some people thanked the president for his response in the comments. “We are lucky to have a President that actually cares about us,” said Michael Hill. Kathleen Marie Rogers wrote, “Bet the news won’t cover this.”

Tom Sutton said: “Get well soon Officer Turner and thank you for your service to our community!”
