Missing Florida Teen Found Safe in New York State: Police

By Jack Phillips

Caitlyn Frisina, a missing teenage girl from Florida who police said was heading north with a 27-year-old soccer coach, was found in New York, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida confirmed.

The office, in a tweet, wrote Friday that it “can confirm missing Caitlyn Frisina has been located and is safe in NY,” but it didn’t offer more details. It was not clear if she was with the coach, Rian Rodriguez.

Frisina, 17, was seen on surveillance video in Georgia and North Carolina with Rodriguez, who is a soccer coach Fort White High School, where she’s a senior and plays on the girl’s soccer team.

On Friday afternoon, New York State Police officer in Syracuse saw the car that the two were believed to be in, ABC News reported, citing the sheriff’s office.

The officer pulled the car over and took Rodriguez into custody without incident. Frisina was detained, and her family was told she was located, the sheriff’s office said.

Frisina’s parents on Sunday reported the teen missing, and she was last seen at her home on Saturday night, officials said. Her phone was left behind, authorities told ABC. In a report, police said that her cellphone had been erased of its data, CBS reported.

Rodriguez and Frisina were seen on surveillance footage in Georgia on Sunday before they were seen at a pawn shop in North Carolina, the sheriff’s office said.

Police said in the report they got a text message that indicated that there “may be a relationship” between the coach and Frisina before the two left, CBS reported.
