79 NJ Men Arrested for Child Pornography and Sex Trafficking

By Ivan Pentchoukov

New Jersey police arrested 77 men and two teenagers in the culmination of a 9-month-long investigation into child predators and child pornography offenders.

The youngest victim was 2 years old.

“Most of the child pornography cases involved videos where children, young children, are depicted being raped,” Attorney General Christopher Porrino told PIX11.

Among the arrested are 10 child predators who allegedly tried to traffick children from New Jersey for sex and four men who tried to lure children for sex. The defendants range from age 14 to 75 years old.

Porrino announced the arrests on Friday, crediting the New Jersey Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Investigators followed suspects across the country, as far as California, where a man was arrested for bringing children from New Jersey for an alleged sex party, according to PIX11.

George Castillo, 36, believed he was picking up a 4-year-old and 9-year-old girl from the airport. Instead, he was met with detectives, investigators say. Catillo allegedly had a stuffed animal and sex toys in his car.

Detectives pretended to be children or parents willing to sell their children for sex online. Some of the suspects connected with the detectives.

Among the arrested is 22-year-old youth minister Michael DeBlock, from Hopatcong; a 17-year-old Bergen County student accused of filming other children in a bathroom; 37-year-old Toms River piano teacher Bryan San Andreas; an unnamed Trenton Police officer; and 52-year-old swimming coach James Cutrone, from Hazlet.

“The men we arrested lurked in the shadows of the internet and social media, looking for opportunities to sexually assault young children or to view such unspeakable assaults by sharing child pornography,” said Porrino.

The task force personnel demonstrated some of the cutting-edge technology used to capture the suspects, including a mobile cybercrime forensics van equipped with tools that can scan smartphones and external hard drives for child pornography.

Investigators also showed off 2-year-old German shepherd Mega, the only canine in the country trained to sniff out digital devices. Mega can pick up the scent of TPPO—a chemical found in these devices.

“We’ve made these proactive child protection investigations a top priority by adding more staff for them at the state level and considerable new resources, including the mobile forensics lab and electronics detection dog,” Director of the Division of Criminal Justice Elie Honig told PIX 11.

The suspects could face decades in prison if convicted.

The attorney general used the opportunity to urge parents to keep a vigilant watch on their children’s use of the internet.
