A teenager was shot to death and another wounded at a sweet sixteen birthday bash in the Bronx after more than 300 uninvited guests crashed the party and an argument broke out, the Daily News reported.
Sincear “Sin” Williams, 16, died after being struck in the neck with a bullet at the event at Maestro’s Caterers on Bronxdale Avenue, New York, on Thursday, Dec. 28.
The lethal bullet was fired by an unidentified individual who fired multiple shots from his car as he was leaving the event.
Word of the party spread quickly on social media, prompting many uninvited guests to show up at the venue, police sources said.
A fight reportedly broke out at around 12:20 a.m. between invited guests and the gate crashers.
After the altercation, a male individual leaving the scene in a black Honda fired into the crowd. Williams, who was hit in the neck, was taken to the Jacobi Medical Center and pronounced dead.
Trey Neverson, 17, a friend of the deceased and an invited guest at the party, was reportedly shot in the arm in the same incident.
Neverson was taken to the hospital and is said to be in stable condition. He later posted this farewell message to his slain friend.
The mother of a 15-year-old girl who left the party shortly before the shooting started was shocked by the incident.
“It’s devastating,” said Wandy Lugo, the girl’s mother, according to Daily News.
“My daughter’s 15 years old. She’s going to celebrate her 16th birthday next summer. It could’ve been her,” said Lugo.
Destiny Ayala, Williams’s cousin, shared this heartbreaking message:
‘All I️ wanna do is cry but I️ know that ain’t gone help anything! I️ just can’t believe we walked into 2018 without you .. this doesn’t feel real! My heart literally hurts; I️ hate that I️ can’t bring you back, what do we do now sin!? ”
The family of the teen set up a GoFundMe page for Williams. They wrote Williams was “full of life and full of enjoyment.”
A viewing has been arranged Jan. 8-9 at Eternity Funeral Services in the Bronx.
“This was so unexpected we weren’t prepared for this.”
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, as police continue to investiagate.
