A group of five little penguins, also known as fairy penguins, was released into the ocean near Sydney suburb, on April 17.
Footsie, Margaret, Collin, Bondi and Nigel suffered from dehydration, a broken foot, and injury by fishing hook, were nursed back to health by Taronga Wildlife Hospital staff.
It is unclear where the birds are headed but they may swim up and down the coast to find food, reported Newscorp.
“Penguins we’ve released here have been recorded down in Victoria,” Wildlife hospital manager Libby Hall Hall told AAP on Tuesday.
“It really depends where the schooling fish are.”
