British broadcaster, BBC, reported today its shortwave radio signals
are being jammed in China.
The source of the jamming
is unknown. But a BBC statement said the attacks were “extensive and coordinated,….indicative of a well-resourced country such as China."
BBC’s global broadcast director, Peter Horrocks, said the attacks were done to cause maximum disruption of its World Service English program.
The BBC says this is not the first time its signals
have been intentionally disrupted. It has reported interference
to its satellite signal
but says its shortwave broadcast has not been hit as hard.
