It seems the economic downturn hasn’t fazed Australian shoppers. They were out in force in Sydney today looking for bargains at the Boxing Day sales.
Ready, steady, go! Shoppers in Sydney, Australia rush to the bargain bonanza.
Across the country they're expected to spend over 10 billion U.S. dollars in post-Christmas sales.
Department stores in Sydney opened early to catch the stream of eager shoppers. Some had even camped outside overnight.
It seems the gloomy economic front makes a bargain too good to resist.
"It's actually quite good, this is my first Boxing Day sale, getting up at 4.30 in the morning to come down. So it's pretty good."
“I think anytime is a good time for a bargain these days. With petrol prices down low at the moment, I think it's just anytime is a good time for a bargain."
And now could be as a good a time as ever.
The fall of the Australian dollar means that many prices of imported goods like furniture and clothing are set to rise in coming months.
