Wintery Storm Bears Down Across The Country With A Messy Mix Of Snow, Rain And Wind Expected To Move Further Into U.S. Northeast

Severe winter weather storms continue hitting the United States approaching the Northeast of the country on Monday (December 9). The National Weather Service is forecasting a heavy snow in the Baltimore-Washington area on Tuesday (December 10).

In Texas a thick layer of ice covered roadways causing tough traffic conditions. In Baltimore area schools were closed due to dangerously icy roads as school buses remained in parking lots.

Police and fire trucks were dispatched to secure the danger areas on the streets and to keep people away from any down ice-ladened power lines in Washington, D.C. while utility services were dealing with the damaged power lines.

Although some ATV drivers residents of Philadelphia enjoyed the snow conditions taking a ride on all terrain vehicles down the "Rocky steps" made famous after the movie "Rocky" with starring Sylvester Stallion while many others got stuck in the Philadelphia airport where more than 460 flights were cancelled on Sunday.

USA is seeing an unusually snowy December in at least the past 10 years when 66.9% of the country was under snow on Monday, according to the National Weather Service data.
