A Reddit user shared a photo of a boy walking a deer in a Chicago neighborhood. The photo appears too ordinary, but the touching reason behind it highlights the beauty of a compassionate heart, thus making the whole thing way too extraordinary.
Somewhere in late 2015, the Redditor, bluecollarclassicist, saw something really wonderful that touched his heart, and so he went ahead to take a photo to capture that moment. The photo shows a 10-year-old boy walking a deer that is actually blind.
The man who shared the photo on Reddit mentioned that the little boy was seen guiding the deer each morning, leading her to green patches just to make sure she got enough food to eat. This had become almost a daily routine for this child.
Later on, he also posted an update to this beautiful story of kindness—he contacted a wildlife rescue team and was told that the blind deer would soon be taken.
He wrote, “The deer is getting picked up today by a local animal rescue group (NOT animal control) and taken to a vet for assessment. It will likely be tagged and taken to a controlled forest preserve but they did say that since she seemed so docile that she might end up in an approved farm or petting zoo.”
Then he updated his compassionate little neighbor about his talk with the wildlife rescue team, and made it clear that the child took it in the right spirit.
“For those of you who are upset about this boys feelings about the deer going away for licensed treatment: His concern was very mature. He had only been walking the deer for a few days and hadn’t named her or tried to claim her as a pet or anything like that. Neither did he shelter her indoors or leave food outside for her which is against the law in our state. He just wanted her to be ok and was relieved to know she would be safe,” he wrote.
Though it’s definitely not the same as being in the wild, it’s hopefully a much better and safer option for this helpless little blind deer. And if she’s lucky enough, then she’ll have a happy and long life.
This amazing story seems to be humble evidence proving that kindhearted souls still exist in our today’s world, when many have become a bit more cruel and selfish.
