500 underprivileged children were guests in this one-of-a-kind Chennai couple’s wedding!

Love finds you when you least expect it! That was what happened with Thilak and Dhana. Dhana was passionate about animal welfare and social work while Thilak had dedicated his life to a social cause. Both of them didn’t plan on getting married but fate had something else planned for them!

Based in Chennai both of them had known each other for quite some time before getting married. It wasn’t just love that led to their marriage but rather a baby girl named Theresa. Dhana had fallen for this little angel. So she asked Thilak to marry her so they can adopt Theresa. But it took two years and was too late for Dhana to convince her parents and by then Theresa had been adopted by another family.

Coming from a humble background, Dhana and Thilak didn’t take a penny from their parents for the wedding. Neither did they accept the usual gifts from their guest. Their story was one of a kind so naturally, the celebrations too had to live up to that!

Their wedding reception in 2012 was a fundraiser for an education fund for underprivileged children. 500 children from 8 homes in Chennai were invited to the wedding where Dhana chose to shun the traditional silk saree and gold jewellery!

Dhana and Thilak’s love story is an inspiration! instead of going with the flow and getting married the ‘usual’ way they took the road less taken. By doing so both of them have proved how dedicated they are to social work! Kudos to this couple for their big hearts and kind gestures!
