On March 31st the first of five Shen Yun performances in Claremont, California won praise from the audience.
“Probably the best show I’ve seen in 20 years,” said Neil Zoller, an engineer.
Glan Pratt, a retired law enforcement officer, wished his children could see Shen Yun with him: “I wish my kids were here with me. I have five kids and their wives, they should be here to see this with me.”
Judy Andrews, teacher of English, could not pick a favorite piece:
“And just that I think – that’s my favorite. I see another performance, and now that’s my favorite. And I just sit there in awe.”
Denise Meraz, advertising design teacher, appreciated the unique use of backdrop design: “To be honest with you, it’s the first time I’ve see animation used in such a creative way, where it is actually part of the performance and can just transport you into a different universe, into a different world, a different time. It was very well done.”
Ralph Chamlee, a retired engineer, was moved by the performance:
“Performance was outstanding. The precision was mind-boggling. So enjoyable!”
Nancy Zoller, an audience member, liked everything about the performance: “I love it! I’ve been trying to get here for years. It’s beautiful! The choreography and everything, the costumes, the blossom scene was the best.”
Audience members commented, that the orchestral music helped bring the characters on stage to life.
“It really showed, it gave a lot of expression to each and every character and it gave chills to pretty much everybody watching, from what I saw. And when they were feeling sad, the heavy music would kick in and it would slow down and it would pick up perfectly in pace with whatever was going on. They really had it perfectly scripted for the entire performance. It was beautiful.” said Ben Bywater.
Shen Yun will perform next in Costa Mesa, California, April 5-9.
