A California woman made a New Year’s resolution in late 2017 that is now changing a stranger’s life.
Jessica Morris, 29, decided to donate a kidney to someone who needed a transplant.
“I knew that [donating a kidney] is what I wanted to do. I had no interest in working out,” Morris told KTVU.
David Nicherie, also 29, needed a kidney after a chronic inflammatory bowel disease and an unrelated autoimmune disease had attacked his kidneys.
Before Morris stepped up, Nicherie was told it could be at least 15 years before a kidney became available. Family members had tried to donate but were rejected by doctors for various reasons.
Nicherie posted an ad on Craiglist and Morris answered. Most people who answered wanted money for a kidney but Morris said there were no strings attached.
The surgery was Tuesday.
