Nurse asks lady to sneak something into hospital—when dying grandpa sees it, he moves his arm

When an old man was losing his battle with cancer, his wife knew he really wanted to see his dear pet one last time. But all that she could do was hang the dog’s pictures around him in the hospital, as pets are not allowed in, until one day the nurses gave her some special instructions.

Ellie Miguel’s grandfather had been battling cancer for years. But one day, his condition became critical. When he was sent to the hospital, he had only a few days left.

The old man, David King, loved his dog, who would go everywhere with him—except the hospital.

“My grandpa loved his dog Lil Fee; she would follow him around everywhere. He would bring her everywhere he could,” Miguel, 17, told Yahoo Lifestyle. “My grandpa had been battling cancer for the past couple years, but last week, it took over his whole body.”

King was then sent to a hospital in Missouri. As everyone can imagine, the old man must have missed his beloved pooch very much. So Miguel’s grandma, Cindy, took the photos of the Yorkie mix to the hospital and hung up the pictures for her husband.

“He spent about a week in the hospital, and my grandma brought pictures of the dog to hang up,” said Miguel.

Although pictures of his dog might provide some comfort, to be with his dog one last time would be much more meaningful for the old, dying man.

“The nurses always heard my grandma talking about Lil Fee. So they encouraged her and helped her get the dog in.”

The nurses came up with an idea to get the puppy into the hospital.

“They had my aunt carry the dog in a really big purse,” said Miguel. With the help of nurses, Miguel’s aunt was able to smuggle the dog in for her beloved owner.

It was a touching moment for all the family members when the dog finally reunited with King. At last, the old man was able to say a final farewell to his beloved pet.

“For the first time that day, he moved his arm in attempts to pet his Lil Fee,” Miguel said. “It was a moment I’ll never forget.”

Miguel snapped a picture of the emotional moment and posted it on her Twitter account. She wrote in the caption, “My grandpa is losing his battle with cancer so the nurses helped my grandma sneak their dog into the hospital to say goodbye.”
