Girl takes 2 ‘sad’ dogs to a park. But when they see their owner, they suddenly perk up

An Air Force veteran who returned from war-torn Afghanistan was looking forward to finally settling down into regular life again. However, upon arriving back home, post-traumatic stress disorder sank in real hard. But this story has a positive twist after he’s reunited with his beloved dogs, and he’s now feeling “complete” again.

Joshua returned from Afghanistan and was excited to resume a normal life again. He had two dogs, called Momma and Panda, which provided him with the joy and comfort he so badly needed.

But soon after Joshua returned home, he started suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.

Joshua explained, “Just going from a war zone to a civilian life and coming back, you feel totally isolated. You feel totally alone. You feel cut off from everything.”

“I slept inside a closet before, because it’s small. It had a small door on it, and it made me feel safe,” recalls Joshua.

PTSD had hit him hard, “it was bad,” he admits. That’s when Joshua felt the need to leave Louisiana and move to California. Whilst he was able to move, his dogs, Momma and Panda, were not able to go with him.

Two months after Joshua relocated to the west coast, he still felt his life was incomplete without his beloved dogs.

“Every day I wake up without them snuggled up underneath my blankets is a strange day, every day I don’t have to walk a dog is a wrong day,” he said.

Moreover, Joshua continued suffering from PTSD. He was having nightmares and intense feelings of isolation. He missed his pets and needed them, but he had a problem—he had no idea how he was going to manage to transport them from Louisiana to California.

That is when Mariah from Pitbulls and Parolees happened to hear about the sad story.

After a discussion with Joshua, she arranged for the two dogs to be transported across the country, and organized to meet him in a park just outside the city.

Panda and Momma had grown thin from being separated from their beloved master, as they apparently lost their appetite after he left.

But on that special day, the two dogs recognized Joshua straight away. The affectionate hugs, kisses, and licks said it all—finally, together again.

“I’m just ecstatic they’re back. I feel complete,” said Joshua. “I feel like a person again.”

We hope Joshua is taking life in his stride again. At least one thing is for sure: He’ll certainly have many “right” days again, as he’s now able to take his dogs on many more wonderful walks.
