This toddler started his hiking expeditions on his parents’ backs when he was just five days old. Before he turned two years old, he had already hiked more than 300 miles and now even has a little sister to join his adventures!
Bodhi Bennett is just five years old, but he has a life experience that probably many adults would envy. His mother, Shannon, has been documenting their hikes on Instagram ever since he was born.
He has conquered many of the most spectacular mountains in the United States with his parents.
“Bodhi climbs everything and really enjoys mimicking what we do,” Shannon said in a report by Daily Mail.
“People are always incredibly pleased to see a child way out in the back country.
“We’ve heard it so many times—people saying they have never seen such a young hiker before.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever been so proud of anything in my life as I am when I witness his ability and determination,” she said.
She wrote on her Instagram: “Toddlers can be stubborn and have tantrums. Infants want to be held, need to be fed, burped and changed. Everyone always “needs” something.”
“But when I reached the top of a boulder and my sweet little Bodhi started cheering and yelled up to me, “Nice climbing, Mommy!”… I see the grime on their hands, the smiles on their dirty little faces and know in my heart that all of this has been more than worth it!”
Now Bodhi has a little sister, Skye, to join him in the explorations of all the spectacular peaks.
And yes, they have a pet dog too, to complete the family picture!
“From day one I have been instilling in my children the great importance of a simple life; a life spent outdoors. It’s where we grow. It’s where we thrive,” their mom wrote on Instagram.
“There is a saying, ‘You can’t climb high with thoughts that bring you down.’”
