Mother finally conceives after 2 years—then doctor reveals rare phenomenon in ultrasound

The odds of having quadruplets naturally is 1 in 700,000. That’s why when this Arizona mother found out about her natural quadruplet pregnancy, she was in hysterics. This surprising news stunned even her doctors!

When Arizona mom Kylie Szafranski and her husband, Phillip, decided their daughter needed a sibling, they never imagined that they would be welcoming four new bundles of joy.

Having spent two years trying to conceive again, Szafranski laughed the moment she knew there were four heartbeats in her belly.

“I laughed… I just, I was laughing, I couldn’t help it,” Szafranski told FOX News.

“Then once all of that passed it was, oh my God, we’re going to have five kids,” she said, in another interview with KPNX-TV.

It was a real surprise to their doctors too, as the couple’s quadruplets were conceived 100 percent naturally, and not via In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

“You’re not pregnant, you’re not pregnant, you’re not pregnant, here’s four babies,” said Szafranski.

Finally, on March 18, Szafranski’s small family of three grew into a big family of seven with the arrival of three boys and one girl—Gideon, Damon, Theo, and Emery—at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center.

“They’re amazing so it’s very shocking and very surreal,” Szafranski said.

Szafranski was in good health and so were the babies. Emery weighed 2 pounds 6 ounces (approx. 1.1 kg) at birth, Damon at 3 pounds 1.7 ounces (approx. 1.4 kg), Gideon at 3 pounds (approx. 1.4 kg), and Theo at 2 pounds 12 ounces (approx. 1.2 kg).

After being kept in the neonatal intensive care unit for two months, Gideon, Damon, Theo, and Meela were brought back to their Phoenix home on May 22.

Some say that raising a kid is akin to guerrilla warfare, so imagine the endless chores Szafranski and her husband will now have to handle.

“I said between my husband and I we could assembly line it through to diaper change and we’re going to divide and conquer,” Szafranski said. “He’ll take two and I’ll take two and same thing with the baths.”

But, though there’d be four feedings and four diaper changes, “it’s not horrific,” she shared.

According to Szafranski, the babies each have a distinctive personality. For instance, Emery, their little princess, is “probably the most stubborn of the four.”

“This is Gideon. Everyone jokes and calls him my mama’s boy because he’s cuddly,” she said. “That’s Theo, his nickname is T-Chunks. That’s Damon. He’s definitely our brick house of a baby.”

Congratulations to the Szafranski family for their four little bundles of joy! With the addition of four more babies, it’ll be fourfold the joy, and worries. Nevertheless, they are precious little angels to cherish and to love.
