This old chocolate lab had been abused by a previous owner and lost his sight and hearing as a result. He was too afraid to even leave his basket until his new human mom inherited a raucous stray cat, who was sensitive toward the dog’s impairment. This special kitty became the old, blind dog’s eyes, and they forged an unbreakable friendship.
Anne Cragg, the owner of the adorable cat and canine, acquired them when a friend of hers became ill. Terfel the chocolate-brown lab had been abused when he was a pup. Apparently, he had been thrown against a wall, which caused him to lose his sight and most of his hearing. As a result, he was incredibly vulnerable, and he refused to even leave his basket for fear of bumping into things.
While dogs can often be a cat’s worst enemy, they can also get along well sometimes, but these two got on exceptionally well from the start. The cat, named Pwditat, preferred Terfel to the company of other cats, whom he bullied into submission and felt “superior” to, and he took to Terfel in a big way, affectionately brushing up around him and snuggling up on cold nights.
“Pwditat immediately seemed to know that Terfel is blind through some sort of sixth sense that animals have,” said Anne, according to ABC 13.
Every day, Pwditat used to urge Terfel out of his basket with his paws and guide him all around the house and through the garden outside.
Pwditat and Terfel have been best friends for more than six years and would walk “nose to tail together.” Terfel’s impairment was remedied by this amazing cat, who would guide the dog along, with Pwditat in the lead, so that the old lab could avoid bumping into things. With Pwditat nearby, Terfel gains his confidence, and in turn, Pwditat gains a snuggle friend for life.
